Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) authorities have suspended two senior hostel officials and one senior administrative officer from the International Relations Office (IRO) in connection with the alleged suicide of a Nepali woman student on campus, which sparked student agitation.

Additionally, two security staff members were terminated immediately after the incident.

According to a KIIT press release, the staff are actively persuading students to return to campus as soon as possible. A dedicated 24×7 control room has been set up at KIIT Campus 6 to facilitate the return of Nepali students. The varsity authorities have also issued a helpline number (+91 8114380770) for assistance.

KIIT acknowledged that certain comments made by staff may have caused distress and apologized for the same. The institution prioritizes the safety and well-being of its students above all, the release added.
