Bhubaneswar: The body of a third-year B Tech student at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), who allegedly died by suicide in her hostel room on Sunday, was handed over to her family members on Tuesday night.

According to sources, a post-mortem examination was conducted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar before the body of Prakriti Lamsal was handed over to the family members.

Prakriti’s family subsequently took her remains to Nepal for cremation, according to sources.

It is pertinent to mention that Prakriti, 19, allegedly took her own life due to harassment by a fellow student, Advik Srivastava, who studies Mechanical Engineering at KIIT.

Srivastava was apprehended by the Commissionerate Police at Bhubaneswar airport on Monday evening.
