Bhubaneswar: The police have arrested three students in connection with the murder of a KISS student, revealing a shocking tale of gang rivalry and brutal violence.
Commissioner S Devdutta Singh confirmed that the victim was murdered by strangulation, and the crime was committed by the three students who had formed a gang called ‘Joker Gang’.
“The boy died on December 12, and his family lodged a complaint alleging murder in Keonjhar district next day. Keonjhar police registered an FIR and sent it to Infocity Police station, which registered a murder case on December 13. KISS authorities handed over the body to the family without informing local police,” the Commissioner said.
The police investigation revealed that the accused students had a rivalry with the deceased boy, and during a conflict, they strangled him to death. The police had received a complaint from the family members alleging murder, and an FIR was registered at Keonjhar police station.
The post-mortem report confirmed strangulation as the cause of death. The police team, led by Zone-6 ACP Sonali Parmar, questioned students and gathered evidence, leading to the identification and arrest of the accused students.
The Commissioner stated, “We investigated the scene of crime, questioned several individuals, and analysed the post-mortem report, concluding it was a case of murder. The students who revealed the information have been provided safe shelter to prevent pressure or intimidation.”
The accused students have been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, and the investigation is underway.
