Bhubaneswar: With the cricket teams of India and West Indies along with officials of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) housed at Hotel MAYFAIR Lagoon in Bhubaneswar, let’s have an overview of the arrangements.
Executive Director of Mayfair Hotels and Resorts, Souvagya Mohapatra, informed that it is the 16th visit of Team India to the Hotel. As Mayfair has been handling cricket teams since the year 2000, the standard operating procedure (SOP) is upgraded regularly as per the requirement of the teams.
Maximum number of rooms has been booked for the visiting teams and officials which is convenient for their safety and security. Besides, required facilities including gym, spa, jogging track, indoor game and outdoor game has been made available for them.
With Christmas and New Year round the corner and arrival of a foreign team, more glamour has been added to the decoration inside the Hotel.
The food during their stay in the Hotel and during their visit to Barabati Stadium will be served to the visiting teams and officials as per their requirement. Besides, as there are nine Food and Beverage (F&B) outlets at Mayfair, they can visit any outlet to have food or drink of their choice.
There is no restriction for the visiting teams and officials to visit these outlets. The Hotel will either request Commissionerate Police to escort the team members or direct the Hotel security for the same, said Mohapatra.
He further informed that as there are many young players in both the teams, their food choices may differ but the Hotel has knowledge of their regular diet. Some Odia cuisines like Chakuli Pitha, Santula, Dalma are also served to them during meals but if anyone is interested to taste more Odia cuisines, they are taken to the Odia restaurant.
Security arrangements have also been beefed up in and around MAYFAIR Lagoon for both the teams and officials. Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo informed that total 21 platoon of police force has been deployed in Bhubaneswar for their security.
Route planning and traffic arrangement has been done for smooth travel of the teams to Barabati Stadium in Cuttack for practice and final match.
Commissionerate Police is in contact with the Management officials and Security Liaison Officers of the teams to provide necessary security to the visiting teams and officials if they want to go for shopping or sight-seeing.
Security cover has been provided at outer and inner perimeter of Mayfair and at all the floors the team members or officials are staying.
Sahoo further informed that in order to ensure a hassle-free trip, a carcade under supervision of a senior-rank official has been arranged to escort the teams to Barabati Stadium.
