**Bhubaneswar: ** Even the school student of a reputed school here in the capital city was rescued by police from Puri recently and the minor boy claimed to have luckily escaped from his kidnappers, his statements recorded by Commissionerate Police here surprisingly contradict with that of others and thus put a question mark on his suspicious cock and bull story of abduction.
In his reactions, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said, “A missing report of a student of ODM School was filed. As he is a juvenile, we had registered a case.
Later, he was rescued from Puri. But, different contradictions have been observed in his statements. Whatever he is saying and following verifications from others, contradictions have been noticed. Hence, our investigation is still on to ascertain if it has really been an abduction or any other reason behind it.”
“Further investigation will reveal the truth. As a missing report was filed by the ODM School authorities, we have registered a kidnapping case as he is a minor boy. Following his rescue, we’ve recorded his as well the statements of his friends and other persons. But as I told about contradictory statements, we’ve carried on our further investigation. If at last it is found out that false statement has been given as well as police have been misguided, future course of action will be initiated as per the law,” the Bhubaneswar DCP stated.
Eminent psychiatrist Pratap Rath viewed, “We, the parents, are distancing ourselves from our children these days for which they are resorting to such antics and telling lies.”
“When the boy said that he had been kidnapped and the parents accepting it, I don’t find anything mistake in it. At first accepting it and without abusing or scolding him, the truth should be elicited in an amiable and cordial manner if he had actually been kidnapped or had been on holidaying tour to Puri with his friends,” the psychiatrist opined.
Notably, a +2 Commerce student of ODM Public School, Patia was allegedly kidnapped from the school premises on Thursday by miscreants and later rescued by Puri Sea Beach Police late on Thursday night.
Speaking to the media, Amarendra Biswal, the student has described his ordeal that after the school prayers were over and he was on his way to his hostel room around half past seven on Thursday evening, two strangers accosted him and started asking questions. Then another man put a handkerchief laced with sedatives on his face. He fell unconscious and when he regained consciousness around 9 pm, they started beating him. Later finding the car door open, he got an opportunity to escape and reached for the nearest police station.
However, the police here have not found any evidence of the so-called kidnappers the boy is talking about nor have any injury marks of beatings on his body. Instead, Puri Sea Beach Police have informed the Commissionerate Police here that they found Amarendra roaming on the beach when they detained him for questioning and then called up his school and parents.
Even the school authorities have informed police that Amarendra has many a time been warned for mischievous activities and was on the verge of being rusticated and they believe he might have cooked up this kidnapping story to escape further punishment.
