Bhubaneswar: Close on the heels of assault on a journalist in a movie theatre in Bhubaneswar, OMMCOM NEWS did a security assessment of few such entertainment hubs in the Capital city.

Starting from Maharaja Cinema Hall, where the incident had occured on January 26, our reporter met Manager of the movie theatre, Lingaraj Panda, who claimed that security has been beefed up in the hall after the incident.

Panda informed that they have seven pointers who are always alert and check every five minutes inside the hall during screening of a movie. If anyone creates disturbance they bring them out of the hall. There are four security personnel outside the hall and if any problem arises the theatre authorities inform the local police station.

If people who are coming to watch movies face disturbances, it will be bad for business, said Panda adding, "From the day of the incident two staffs have been deployed inside the hall. They will be present there during screening of a movie and alert the authorities if any untoward incident occurs."

Manager of Sriya Cine Complex, Rabindra Kumar Sahu said, they have adequate security arrangements in their theatre, including staff at the front, gate and monitoring is done by two pointers during every movie screening.

"People will not come to the theatre if they don't feel secure. If any untoward incident occurs, the staffs first try to handle it at their level or they inform it to the office and if the matter goes out of hand we seek the help of local police," he added.

Sahu also informed that there are CCTV cameras installed at various places in the movie theatre including the lobby, outside the campus, in front and inside the box office. Besides, there are 10 to 12 staffs in the theatre for security purpose.
