Know Restrictions On Celebration Of Pana Sankranti, Ramadan In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In accordance with the government guidelines issued by the office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) preventing the conduct of festivals and functions at public places, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued fresh instructions for Pana Sankranti and Ramadan.

BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Tuesday informed that various functions and drinking of ‘Pana’ at temples has been restricted. Sevayats and priests have been requested to only perform the rituals sans devotees. Any type of celebration at public places is not allowed.

Discussions have been held with various stakeholders for the observance of Ramadan. Guidelines in this regard will be issued by today evening or tomorrow. Emphasis will be given on the conduct of Friday ‘namaz’ by following Covid guidelines and restrictions will be issued on the number of people attending it, he added.

Chaudhary further informed that mosques will only be able to host congregants at a maximum of 50 percent capacity to maintain 6 feet of social distancing.
