**Bhubaneswar**: Hi-Tech Group Chairman Tirupati Panigrahi’s worries are far from being over. Earlier, he was arrested by Crime Branch on charges of land fraud in 2012 and was behind bars for more than a year. He was granted conditional bail by Supreme Court only after depositing around Rs 63.5 crores in four installments in 2014.
Now Hi-Tech Medical College seems to hog the limelight for wrong reasons.
In December 2017, there was an incident where a first year female MBBS student of Hi-Tech Medical College was allegedly raped in the college campus by a peon. She filed an FIR at Mancheswar PS alleging that while she was returning to her hostel late on that night from a ramp show conducted in the college, she was ‘raped’ by a peon named Manoj Khatua. Though the peon was arrested immediately, he claimed that he is innocent and allegations against him are false and baseless.

On 9th April 2018, a 21-yr-old nursing student of Hi-Tech Medical College allegedly attempted suicide by jumping off her hostel building. According to a relative of the victim, she was allegedly harassed by the college authorities and she took this extreme step under stress. However, the college’s Principal said that she suffered from psychosis and behaved abnormally sometimes.
Mancheswar police have filed a case in this connection and investigating further.

Now Hi-Tech Medical College is again in news for an alleged suicide of MBBS student. Nihar Ranjan Rout of 3rd year allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room on Saturday night by hanging himself. The bereaved parents were informed about this incident and they allege that their son might have been murdered or abetted to commit suicide.
The police have filed a case and are investigating into it.
