Bhubaneswar: Kodala police failed the attempt of miscreants who allegedly tried to make a murder accused escape from the police station on Thursday.
According to sources, police had detained accused Bikram Parida, a resident of Chachina village, on charges of killing a person Dipu Patra in 2023. When the interrogation of Bikram was underway last night, a few miscreants barged into the police station and tried to take him away. It led to a clash between the miscreants and police.
Though police foiled the miscreants’ bid to make the murder accused escape by overpowering the accused, the unscrupulous elements managed to flee the scene.
Talking to the media, Ganjam Superintendent of Police said, “The murder accused has been remanded to judicial custody.”
