Bhubaneswar: Passengers at Biju Patnaik International Airport experienced significant disruptions after eight Kolkata-bound flights made emergency landings due to a severe thunderstorm in West Bengal. The unexpected landing stranded passengers at the airport overnight, causing frustration and dissatisfaction.
The thunderstorm, accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain, hit Kolkata, prompting the flights to divert to Bhubaneswar. While six flights later proceeded to Kolkata, two were unable to continue their journey.
Stranded passengers expressed their discontent, citing poor communication from the airport authorities. The airport administration has yet to respond to the concerns raised by the affected travellers.
