Puri: The five-day celebration of Konark Festival and the International Sand Art Festival was kicked off on Sunday. While Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal inaugurated the Konark Festival; State Tourism and Culture Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi launched the International Sand Art Festival.
The 30th edition of Konark Festival will see the beautiful Konark temple transcend into an open-air auditorium where national and international artists enthral the audiences with their performances. The five-day festival will showcase dance forms like Odissi, Kathak, Balinese, Mohiniattam, Kuchipudi, and Bharatnatyam.
The International Sand Art Festival is held at the Chandrabhaga Beach, about three km from the Konark temple. It is an event for people in love with sand creations. The second edition of the sand festival celebrates sand sculptures produced by skilful sand artists.
Both the festivals will conclude on December 5.
