Jeypore: The Koraput civil court has issued a warrant to attach a car used by Koraput Additional District Magistrate and other assets at the Collectorate due to unpaid medicine bills of a private medicine store.
Other assets include 10 tables, 10 chairs, 10 air-conditioners, 20 fans, and 10 almirahs.
The action stems from an outstanding bill for medicines supplied to the Nandapur CDPO office in 2010.
After the warrant was issued by Koraput Senior Division Civil Judge, a team of officials from the court visited the Koraput Collectorate. However, the team failed to execute the warrant as the Collector was absent.
The Court warrant came in response to a case filed by a medical store owner who had supplied medicines worth Rs 2,63,839 to Nandapur CDPO office in 2010.
The office didn’t clear the medicine bill to the store owner, named Harekrushna Mohanty following which he moved to the court.
Hearing the case, the court directed the Koraput Collector to pay a total of Rs 4,33,774.96, including case expenses in 2018. Despite court order, the administration didn’t pay the pending amount, Mohanty said.
Later, the court directed to seize the vehicle and other assets of ADM, Mohanty added.
