Koraput: The district administration and police have taken special measures for carrying out Panchayat polls in Kotia gram panchayat, which has witnessed incidents of ‘infiltration’ in the recent past.
Kotia is a part of Odisha under Potangi block Koraput district. However, reports about Andhra Pradesh officials carrying out welfare activities in the region have flared up disputes.
In the wake of rural polls in Odisha, Kotia continues to remain a sensitive bordering GP of the State. Collector Abdaal Akhtar said the local BDO had reported that police personnel had inquired about law and order in Kotia amid panchayat polls.
“We said them that Kotia is a part of Odisha, and Koraput police will take care of the law and order situation. No more untoward incidents have been reported from the panchayat,” said Akhtar.
On the other hand, campaigning is going on in full flow in Kotia. A consensual candidate has been and another independent are contesting for the post of Sarpanch of the GP.
