Koraput: In a significant breakthrough, a female Maoist, Mamata Padiami alias Mamita (26), surrendered along with her SLR rifle before DIG Koraput, Kanwar Vishal Singh, on Thursday.
Mamita, a resident of Lingapuram village in Chhattisgarh, was involved in several Maoist activities in the region.
According to DIG Koraput, Mamita was a hardcore Maoist cadre and several arms, ammunition, and Maoist literature, including a landmine manual, were seized from her possession.
As per the surrender policy, Mamita will receive a total of Rs 7.15 lakh as incentive for surrendering. The surrender ceremony was attended by SP Koraput and other senior police officials.
DIG Kanwar Vishal Singh declared Koraput district as Mao-free, marking a significant milestone in the region’s fight against Maoism.
