Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Koraput is poised to emerge as a major hub for South Indian cinema. Renowned filmmakers are increasingly taking notice of the region’s potential, with none other than acclaimed director S. S. Rajamouli, of Baahubali and RRR fame arriving in Koraput to shoot his upcoming film.
Currently, the shooting of the upcoming film ‘SSMB 29’ is underway in Semiliguda, Koraput. The shooting has been in progress in the Talamali hills of Semiliguda since last Thursday. Along with Rajamouli, the film’s heroes Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran have also set up camp in Koraput.
Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra is also scheduled to join the team for the shooting. A huge crowd is gathering to watch the film shooting, and for this, strict security measures have been taken in the setup area. The film will be shot not only in the Talamali Hills but also in Deomali, the highest peak of Odisha.
For this, the administration has granted permission to shoot until March 28. Rajamouli and 500 crew members have set up camp in Koraput’s Semiliguda.
One of the upcoming films of director Rajamouli, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, is set to be shot in Talamali and Deomali. The necessary permission has been granted for the shooting. Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli have arrived at the location. The district administration and police are extending cooperation to the team,” said Koraput Collector Keerthi Vasan.
Koraput district, which is replete with dense forests, hills, and waterfalls, boasts many tourist attractions, and its videos are going viral on various social media platforms.
Consequently, Koraput district is attracting the attention of renowned filmmakers. According to reports, ‘SSMB 29’ will be a jungle adventure film, in which Mahesh Babu’s role is inspired by Hanuman. The film promises action and adventure.
Priyanka Chopra has not worked in Indian films in the last few years and was last seen in ‘The Sky is Pink’ in 2019. Now, she is making a comeback in Bollywood and Tollywood through ‘SSMB 29’, which is good news for her fans.
Earlier, Anushka Shetty’s film ‘Ghati’ was also shot in Koraput district. Similarly, Superstar Allu Arjun’s film ‘Pushpa 2’ was also shot in Malkangiri, part of the undivided Koraput district.
