Bhubaneswar: Acting upon reliable input, Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday intercepted Surjit Kumar Sahu, Forest Range Officer, Lamtaput in Koraput district while he was travelling by car to Bhubaneswar and recovered cash to the tune of Rs 1,05,000.
The Vigilance team intercepted Sahu at Koraput Town while he was travelling to Bhubaneswar in his office Bolero vehicle (Reg. No. OD-05-AM 1928). As Sahu was unable to offer a satisfactory reply as to where he got the cash from, the Vigilance Department has initiated action against him for amassing disproportionate assets (DA).
Ironically, Sahu was elevated to the rank of Assistant Forest Conservator (AFC) on Monday.
Following the interception of Sahu’s vehicle late on Monday night, simultaneous searches are being conducted at the office and residential quarters of the Forest official as well as his family residence in Bhubaneswar from the DA angle. A detailed report regarding the searches is awaited.
