Koraput: Koraput Town police have arrested three persons in connection with a robbery committed on Monday.
Police said the accused have been identified as Gobind Sagar (26), Bhaskar Chandra Khara (23), and Madhu Bagh (24). They all hail from Koraput area, police added.
Three bikes, three mobile phones, one iron rod, and Rs 5,300 in cash have been seized from their possession, police said.
While the prime accused in the robbery is on the run, the three accused have been forwarded to court.
Briefing reporters, Koraput SDPO Manoj Kumar Pujari said, “Some miscreants had hijacked a jackfruit laden pick-up van from near Koraput RTO office on Monday. They steered the vehicle into the forested area on Rayagada road and after thrashing the incumbents in the vehicle looted Rs 53,000 cash from them.”
Based on a complaint lodged by the owner of the pick-up van at the Koraput Town police station, police launched an investigation leading to the arrest of the accused persons, Pujari added.
