Bhubaneswar: A cold wave has begun to sweep across Odisha, with temperatures expected to drop further in the next few days due to clear skies and no forecast of rain.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in most districts has ranged between 19°C and 22°C.
Koraput recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 16°C, followed by Daringbadi at 18°C, Phulbani at 18.5°C, Jharsuguda, Bhadrak, and Angul at 19°C, Keonjhar at 20°C, and Paralakhemundi, Kendrapara, Jajpur, and Rourkela at 21°C. With clear skies and no rain in sight, the mercury is likely to dip further in the coming days, signaling a cold winter ahead.
According to the IMD, the minimum temperature is very likely to drop by 2°C to 3°C across several districts of Odisha during the next 48 hours, with no major change expected thereafter. The fall in temperature will mark the beginning of the winter chill across the state.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay warm and safe.
