Koraput: In light of the Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Red Warning for extremely heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours in Koraput district, the Collector ordered the closure of all schools for students on Friday (August 30).

The Red Warning, which may extend to three days, has prompted authorities to prioritize student safety. School authorities are instructed to ensure no students sit in dilapidated or unsafe buildings, with special attention to students commuting through areas with geographical barriers.

The district administration has also asked the concerned officials to keep schools ready for emergency response.

The Collector’s order also states that any employee found violating these directives will be held responsible. Additionally, the School and Mass Education Department employees are not permitted to leave headquarters without consent.

All Assistant Block Education Officers (ABEOs), Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs), and Headmasters (HMs) are required to ensure compliance within their respective jurisdictions and report promptly.

The Collector has emphasized the need for utmost sensitivity in this matter, prioritizing the safety of students.
