Bhubaneswar: The CEO Odisha records a significant 31% votes till 11:00 AM in the disputed Kotia Gram Panchayat of Koraput, Odisha.

Falling under the Patangi block of Koraput district, the village has about 5510 voters out of which 2913 are women, casting their votes through 9 polling stations.

The village has been the centre of controversy for a long period, due to territorial disputes between the state of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

In 1968, the Govt. of Odisha moved to the Supreme Court claiming the rights of the village.

However, the Apex Court ruled that the disagreement related to interstate boundaries falls beyond its jurisdiction and can be resolved by Parliament.

Many people of Kotia enjoy the rare advantage of having Voter IDs for both states, falling under the Koraput Constituency of Odisha, and the Araku Constituency of Andhra Pradesh. Giving the villagers the right to vote in both states.
