Bhubaneswar: The Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district reopened to tourists on Saturday, marking the beginning of the new tourist season after a six-month closure since June.
Ranger-cum-Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Subrat Kumar Behera said that the sanctuary has been reopened in line with government guidelines.
“Like every year, Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary is open to tourists from November 1. Visitors can now explore the Rissia Nature Camp, Rissia Dam, and nearby waterfalls. They can also witness the deer translocated from Nandankanan Zoological Park, whose population has increased over time,” Behera informed.
The sanctuary gate was formally opened at 8 am through a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO).
“Due to limited staff, we are continuing with a single entry and exit point. However, tourists can comfortably go inside, take a round, and return,” Behera added.
The reopening of the sanctuary has brought cheer to nature enthusiasts and local tourism operators, who expect an increase in visitor footfall during the winter season.
