Cuttack: The Special Investigative Team (SIT) constituted by the Orissa High Court to probe the Kunduli gang rape and suicide case, today submitted its report to the High Court.
The three-member SIT team comprising of Southern range DIG Satyabrata Bhoi, Northern Range DIG Himanshu Lal and South Western Range DIG Shafeen Ahmed submitted the report to the High Court in a sealed envelope, court sources said.
Sources further said that the High Court allowed the SIT another week’s time to submit its final report by December 23.
It may be pointed out here that the High Court had ordered for an SIT probe into the alleged gang rape after conducting a hearing on a petition filed by the victim’s mother in High Court seeking a CBI probe in the matter.
Notably, a 14-year-old girl of Kunduli area in Koraput district, who was then studying in Class IX was allegedly raped by four ‘men in uniform’ while she was returning home from a nearby market on October 10, 2017.
The rape survivor later allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on January 22, 2018.
