Bhubaneswar: One labourer died while cleaning a well at Ganianala village under Digapahandi police limits in Ganjam district, on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Dibakar Sahu, a resident of Naranpur.

According to sources, Dibakar and two other labourers were hired to clean a well at Ganianala village. While the two of them went inside the well, Dibakar was overseeing the work by standing from outside.
Two labourers, who went inside the well did not respond despite calling several times. Dibar without delay went into the well and found them fainted due to suffocation. Dibakar helped them come out of the well. However, he failed to come out of the well due to suffocation and fell unconscious.
Upon being informed by villagers, fire brigade officers reached the spot and rescued Dibakar from the well.
Villagers rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The incident has sent shockwaves in the locality.
