Balasore: Commuters in the Bhograi block of Balasore district are experiencing difficulties as drivers of the Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LAccMI) buses have gone on strike. They are protesting to press for the fulfillment of their six-point demands.
According to reports, the drivers launched the protest after the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) allegedly failed to address their long-standing requests, which included limiting their work hours to 8 hours and establishing a fixed daily salary.
One of the protesting drivers, Narayan Prasad Behera, expressed frustration, stating, “Despite informing the authorities about our issues multiple times, no action has been taken. With no other options available, we decided to strike work. While we are asking for fixed duty hours, they have threatened to penalise us.”
Behera added, “We will continue our protest until our demands are met.”
Currently, six LAccMI buses operate in the block, providing affordable transportation for hundreds of commuters in the district. With the buses not running, many daily commuters are facing challenges, according to media reports.
So far, there has been no response from the relevant authorities on the situation.
