Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today revealed that it has incurred substantial losses in operating buses under LAccMI scheme across the State.
Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena informed the Assembly that the state has suffered losses of Rs 374.08.58,055 in just 10 months, from October 2023 to August 2024, under the scheme.
In response to a question from BJP MLA Bibhuti Bhusan Pradhan, the Minister stated that 1,340 buses are running under the LAccMI scheme, with the state government spending Rs 399 crore to ply these buses.
However, the income generated is a mere Rs 25.03.86,585, highlighting the scheme’s financial woes. Launched by the previous BJD government to create a seamless public transport network from panchayats to the state capital, the LAccMI scheme has failed to achieve its objective, Jena admitted.
