Bhadrak: A lady police sub-inspector (SI) was arrested on Sunday on charges of sexually exploiting a woman journalist of a Web channel on the pretext of marriage.
According to Bhadrak City DSP Anshuman Dwivedi, the arrested female SI has been identified as Tapaswini Mahapatra, who was posted at Chudamani Marine Police station in Odisha’s Bhadrak district. She dressed as a man and lured the victim into an intimate relationship, police said.
The victim had complained to the Bhadrak police station in this connection.
“A woman alleged that SI Tapaswini Mahapatra harassed her sexually. Based on the complaint, an investigation was initiated. The accused SI was subjected to a medical examination. She was produced in a court. Currently, she is under suspension. The next course of action will be decided as per the investigation,” Dwivedy said.
