Sambalpur: The Brahmapura Pandit Mahasabha on Thursday finalised the lagna (auspicious time) for the celebration of Nuakhai, western Odisha’s mass agrarian festival.
According to reports, the Pandit Mahasabha has finalised the lagna for offering Nabanna (newly-harvested rice) to Maa Samaleswari, the presiding deity of western Odisha between 10.27 AM and 10.42 AM of September 20.
After offering the newly harvested rice to Maa Samaleswari, the people of western Odisha will celebrate Nuakhai festival in their homes.
Pandit Rabinarayan Panda, Pandit Gopinath Panda, Pandit Sachidananda Prasad Mishra, Pandit Krushna Chandra Panigrahi, Pandit Laxman Behera, Pandit Krushna Kanta Panigrahi and members of the Brahmapura temple trust Saroj Dalpati, Subhendu Mishra, Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Sitakanta Panigrahi, Prana Ranjan Panda, Partha Sarathi Mishra and Subhendu Panda were present during the fixing of the lagna.
