Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee took a final decision on allocating plots to economically weak Servitors. In the first phase of the project, total 400 servitor families will be getting plots, measuring 600 sq ft each.
“The Temple Managing Committee took this crucial decision which will go a long way in benefitting servitors who are not financially sound. The Land and Project Sub Committee of the Managing Committee will look after the applications for this project under the ABADHA scheme,” Chief Administrator of SJTA, Dr Krishan Kumar said.
There will be a proper scrutiny process in allocation of the plots. After receiving the applications, there will be a verification following which the final list of allottees will be announced. Total 8 acres land has been earmarked for the project, said Dr Kumar.
To be eligible for availing plots under this scheme, a servitor has to be involved in day to day Rituals of Puri Jagannath temple, apart from the criteria of being economically weak. The servitors will get an initial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to built a house on the allotted plot. Basic amenities like, road, water, electricity, sewerage etc will be facilitated by the State Government, he added.
