Bhubaneswar: In a heart-warming display of humanity and motherhood, a woman police constable Rajani Majhi from Malkangiri district went out of her way to help a young mother, Bhairavi Mandal, attend an exam without worrying about her 45-day-old infant.
Bhairavi had arrived at the exam centre with her husband and baby, but the infant’s cries threatened to disrupt her concentration. Constable Majhi, who is also a lactating mother, noticed Bhairavi’s distress and stepped in to offer help. She took the baby into her care, even breastfeeding the infant, allowing Bhairavi to focus on her exam.
“I understood her mental condition and assured her that I’d take care of the baby,” Majhi said. Bhairavi was able to complete her exam, thanks to Majhi’s kindness, and expressed her gratitude to the constable and other staff.
“When my baby was crying, I decided not to attend the exam. But the constable Didi came forward and assured me that she would take responsibility for the infant during the exam hour. She took my baby in her lap and allowed me to write the exam. I was still worried about my baby’s situation, but Constable Didi managed it well. I must thank her and the other staff; I am grateful to her forever.” Bhairavi said.
“This humanitarian act is a testament to the compassion and empathy of our police force,” said colleagues of Constable Majhi. The incident has warmed the hearts of many, showcasing the selfless dedication of a true public servant.
