Bhubaneswar: Two police personnel have been suspended for dereliction of duty after an accused escaped from their custody while being taken for a medical check-up. The incident occurred on Tuesday night under the Salipur police jurisdiction.
According to sources, the accused was arrested by the Salepur police in a molestation case and was being taken for a medical check-up when he managed to give police the slip.
Despite a frantic search, the police failed to trace his whereabouts. As a result, Rural SP issued a suspension order for Home Guard Sushant Swain and Constable Sanjay Kumar Das responsible for the accused’s escape.
Meanwhile, the incident has raised questions about the negligence of the police personnel and the lack of proper security measures.
