Bhubaneswar: The Ishani village in Balasore district was shrouded in grief today as villagers gathered to bid a final farewell to Prashant Kumar Satpathy, the Odia tourist who was killed in a terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
The last rites of Prashant, who was among the 28 tourists killed in the deadly firing incident, were performed at his native village, with his son lighting the funeral pyre.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has announced assistance for the family of the deceased Prashant. Prashant’s family will receive financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh. The Chief Minister has also announced that the state government will provide a government job to Prashant’s wife and bear all the education expenses of their son.
Earlier, Prashant’s mortal remains arrived in Bhubaneswar via a special flight from Srinagar. From there, his body was taken to his native village, Isani in Balasore, in the morning.
Notably, Prashant, along with his wife and son, had visited Pahalgam for sightseeing. Unfortunately, he fell victim to a terrorist attack that occurred there, resulting in the deaths of 28 tourists, including him.
