Bhubaneswar: Despite, engineering being one of the most desired careers in India, many engineers quit their profession to follow their heart. While many students take up engineering as a successful career, several others quit engineering to follow their passion.
Some people realize their passions lie elsewhere while they are pursuing their engineering degree. We all have that one engineering friend who quit engineering to follow his passion. But we are forgetting those who maintain the balance between passion and profession. Neither do they quit their profession nor do they stop following their passion.
Meet Lasyaban Kashyap who comes under such category. What sets apart this youngster from other techies is that alongside the demanding career, he has also been pursuing his passion which is painting and carved a niche in the field of art.
His paintings show an in-depth zeal for creativity. Over the years, he has mastered the art of face sketching and has won accolades for it.
Hailing from Jagatsinghpur, Lasyaban resides at Sahid Nagar in Bhubaneswar. Art is something that comes to him spontaneously.
“I used to be a backbencher during my school days though I was very good at study. When teachers were busy teaching us, I used to draw different cartoon characters in my notebook. When I was in Class VII, one of my friends asked me to make his sketch. My friends were taken aback when I came up with an almost accurate sketch of him. It also surprised me. That day I discovered the hidden quality of mine”, said Lasyaban when asked how he got attracted towards face sketching, in particular.
Be it Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, megastar of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan or any other celebrity, Lasyaban makes their sketches to a T.
Recollecting an anecdote, Lasyaban who works at a software farm said, “I had gone to a coffee shop with my friend when I was in Class X. We came across a lovely couple enjoying their coffee date there. My friend asked me to approach them for face sketching. I went to them and sought their permission to make their sketch. They said yes to me without any hesitation. And they were so impressed by my sketch that they gave me Rs 500. For me, it was my first salary. This incident inspired me so much that I never looked back since then and kept on sketching of eminent people.”
He has earned accolades from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and founder of KIIT and KISS Achyut Samant for his art skills. Despite remaining busy all the day at office, he makes sure to come up with a face sketch at the end of the day.
“I am an engineer by profession but a painter at heart. For me, art is a way to express myself without any limitations. Art for me is a source of positivity and gives direction to my life”, singed off Lasyaban.
