Bhubaneswar: Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Thursday refuted the Opposition’s allegations that the state government was not taking any serious steps to prevent violence against minors and ensure their safety. Describing the allegations as ‘completely baseless and baseless’, the minister said, “The government is committed to ensuring that the atrocities committed against women, children and children are dealt with swiftly and effectively through a speedy trial process.”
Replying to an adjournment motion submitted by BJD MLA Pramila Mallick, Harichandan cites different cases of violence against women in Odisha, including Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Kunchinda said that investigations in all these cases are pending and action will be taken against the guilty.
In all the cases, the accused have been arrested and sent to jail custody, the minister said.
