Bhubaneswar: Lawyers in Puri have protested against the proposed relocation of the district court to an area near the Balukhand Wildlife Sanctuary, blocking the Puri-Bhubaneswar National Highway at Malatipatpur.
As per reports, the blockade, organised by the Puri Bar Association, has caused significant traffic disruption, leaving many commuters stranded.
Notably, the lawyers are opposing the relocation plan, citing concerns that it would inconvenience litigants, lawyers, and the general public. They are demanding a reconsideration of the plan and a discussion in the Assembly to find a solution.
On the other hand , the agitation has caused hardship for travellers, including those heading to the Lord Jagannath Temple and families visiting relatives. The Bar Association claims the protest is in the larger public interest, aiming to safeguard access to judicial services. The blockade is expected to continue until 3 pm.
