Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court today directed the Orissa High Court to create concurrent jurisdictions to transfer cases to adjacent districts. Taking note of lawyers’ strike in some districts of Odisha, the Supreme Court asked the Orissa HC to facilitate transfer of all cases from the district/s where the lawyers are still on strike, to an adjacent district where court work is on.
Senior Counsel, Sibo Shankar Mishra, who is representing the Orissa High Court in this case, said, “The SC noted that grievances of establishment of separate bench shall not be considered unless lawyers resume the work.”
The SC noted that 197 vacancies (across India) at HC level needs to be processed for recommendation by collegium. “The 213 recommendations pending at Government level and Attorney General are directed to file reasons of delay. All other issues pertaining to the case will be considered on January 10,” said Mishra.
