Notably, AAA president Gen Dahlan Jumaan Al Ahmed in his address at the closing ceremony of the championships on Sunday has been quoted saying, “Congratulations to Odisha and the Government of Odisha for the best organisation ever. We have seen the professionalism, the good organisation and standards ever seen in Asia. On behalf of the Asian family, we thank the Government of Odisha for the best work.”

Besides, AAA member Karim Abraham has also pointed out that the standards of this event has been set up so high by the Odisha Government that it would give a tough competition for the future organisers of this event to match it up.

On the contrary coming down heavily on the Odisha Government, Odisha unit BJP leader Lekhashree Samantsinghara criticised, “The way the State Government is patting its own back and bragging that it completed the preparations in a record 90-day timeline is ridiculous. But the truth behind it is that the tender process for the renovation of Kalinga Stadium had already been through six months earlier. The State Government was apprised ninety days before that the Asian Athletics Meet will be held here. Hence, they took up the work hastily while sitting idle during the previous six months.”

“With such an international event hosted in Odisha, the worst side is that the State Government did not involve any sports organisation, sports federation and sports personalities in it. They have totally treated it as a party programme. With a handful of IAS officers, some of their party leaders, MPs and MLAs, the State Government turned it into a party affairs. It is saddest to note that no stakeholders in the field of sports and athletics have been involved in it,” she commented.
