Bhubaneswar: BJP State Vice President Lekhasri Samantsinghar joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) at party headquarters- Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. Her move came two hours after her resignation from the primary membership of the BJP.
She joined the Naveen Patnaik-led party in the presence of MP Manas Mangraj, Sasmit Patra, and former MP Rabindra Jena and others.
“I would like to thank the BJD and its leaders for accepting me in an open heart. I had done everything possible for the BJP during my 10 years stint. But, I failed to win the confidence of the leaders there. I have an ambition to work for the people of Odisha which prompted me to join BJD. I want to move forward with the BJD,” she said after formally joining the regional front at party office.
Samantsinghar also thanked BJD president and CM Naveen Patnaik and 5T chairman VK Pandian.
Samantsinghar, who was associated with the BJP for the last 10 years, sent her resignation to BJP State President Manmohan Samal on Sunday morning. She shared her letter on her social media page.
In her letter, she expressed her anguish that she could not earn the trust of BJP leadership in spite of working sincerely for the party.
