Leopard Finally Captured After Day-Long Drama In Balangir Village

**Balangir**: The Forest department officials on Thursday night finally trapped the leopard that had injured two persons in Kuruli village in Balangir district on Monday afternoon.

The animal had strayed into human habitation and hid in a cowshed in Kuruli village creating panic in the area.

According to reports, Divisional forest officer (Balangir) Rashmi Nayak said after failed attempts by local forest officials, experts from Hirakud wildlife division in Sambalpur were called to capture it.

The Forest officials said that it will be taken to Harishankar for immediate relocation and later it may be shifted to Nandankanan zoo in Bhubaneswar.

Suresh Kumar Tampa, Regional Chief Conservator of Forests (RCCF) of Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi was leading the eight-member team of the forest officials who trapped the animal.
