Berhampur: Normal life has been hit in Bhanjanagar in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday as vehicular traffic remained off the road and business and academic establishments were closed in response to a 12-hour bandh in support of the local resident’s demand for district status to Ghumsur.
The Ghumus Action Committee has called the bandh from 6 am to 6 pm. The bandh supporters have been picketing at various important traffic junctions in Bhanjnagar since early morning today. The streets and markets wore a deserted look but emergency services have been exempted from the bandh.
The Congress, BJP, local social organisations and Bhanjnagar Journalists’ Association have supported the bandh call for district status to Ghumsur.
