Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday apprehended Assistant Engineer, Lift Irrigation, Muruda Section under Baripada Division in Mayurbhanj district Gora Singh while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from a complainant, according to an official press release.
Accused Singh had demanded the bribe for processing and submission of feasibility report for digging borewell on the land of his father, a beneficiary under BKVY (Biju Krushak Vikas Yojana).
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused Singh and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are underway at three locations of Singh in Mayurbhanj district.
Vigilance has registered a case against Singh at Balasore Vigilance police station under section 7 of PC Amendment Act, 2018.
Further, investigation against Singh is in progress, the release added.
