Dhenkanal: A light gate collapsed on Dakhina Kali Road Kalika Bazaar ahead of Lakhmi Puja on Wednesday morning. The gate collapsed onto the road, but fortunately, no one was injured.
According to reports, the light gate erected at the Dakshinakali area collapsed ahead of the Lakhmi Puja celebrations. The structure, which included lighting equipment, suffered significant damage due to heavy rainfall caused by low-pressure over the Bay of Bengal. The incident caused temporary disruption to vehicle movement, especially since the road is near the District Headquarters Hospital.
Upon being informed, the fire brigade team quickly arrived at the scene and cleared the debris, restoring normal traffic flow.
With the Laxmi Puja festival approaching on October 6, preparations are underway, and several light gates are being set up across the city.
