Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha experienced light rain on Tuesday morning, providing some relief from the intense heat wave prevailing in the state for the last few days. However, the weather remained dry in most regions.
According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), some places in the state, especially coastal and interior Odisha received light rain under the influence of western disturbances. The IMD further said that there is a possibility of a drop in the mercury due to the rain today.
The weather office forecasted that several places in north interior Odisha are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall during the next three days with the intensity of rain increasing on Thursday and Friday.
Rain may occur in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Mayurbhanj districts on Thursday, while Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Jagatsinghpur districts may receive rainfall on Friday.
The state has been experiencing summer heat for the last few days. On Monday, the maximum temperature in six cities of the state was above 36°C. The highest maximum temperature was 37°C in Parlakhemundi.
