Bhubaneswar: While the cyclonic storm Mandous has no direct impact over Odisha, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur in some districts for the next two days, stated the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nawrangpur, Malkangiri, and Koraput on Friday and over the districts of Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nawrangpur on Saturday.
The cyclonic storm lay centered at 0830 hours IST of today, December 8, over Southwest Bay of Bengal about 300 km east-northeast of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 420 km east-southeast of Jaffna (Sri Lanka), 460 km east-southeast of Karaikal and about 550 km southeast of Chennai.
It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Sriharikota with a maximum sustained wind speed of 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph around mid night of December 9.
