Bhubaneswar: The weather in Odisha is likely to change from Friday bringing some relief to the people from the scorching heat prevailing in the state for the last few days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall for the next six days over the coastal districts of Odisha.
According to the weather office, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning along with light to moderate rainfall activity over the coastal adjoining districts of Odisha on Friday and Saturday. Light to moderate rainfall is likely in Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Angul, Boudh, and Kalahandi on February 23 and 24.
In addition, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Khurda, Rayagada, and other places will also likely experience light to moderate rainfall in the next week bringing down the day temperature by 2°C to 3°C. The weather office predicted that dry weather would prevail in the other places of Odisha.
“Since we expect rainfall activity likely to continue from Friday onwards over several parts of Odisha there will be a respite from this hot weather condition from Sunday and in particular there will be a sudden fall in the temperature. We are also expecting the night temperature is likely to be maintained,” Umashankar Das, a scientist at the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said.
