Lightning Claims Two Lives In Mayurbhanj

Baripada: Two persons were killed in lightning strike while they were working in the farmland at Dramapada village in Khadisal panchayat under Betnoti police limits in Mayurbhanj on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Gobinda Mahanta (52) of Bhuduribani village under Betanoti police limits and Siba Hansda (30) of Sankhajoda village.

According to reports, Gobinda and Siba were cultivating farmland belonging to Umesh Chandra Mahanta of Dramapada as sharecroppers.

Lightning struck them while they were working in the field. Both were rushed to Betnoti Community Health Centre (CHC). However, they were pronounced dead by the attending doctors at the CHC.

Betnoti police after having registered to separate cases of unnatural death has intiated the process for conduct of post mortem of the bodies.
