Bhubaneswar: A farmer reportedly died after being struck by lightning while working in his field at Padmapur village under Balanga police station in Puri district on Friday.
Jaga Barik died while his father, Babula Barik, was seriously injured in the incident.
According to reports, Jaga and his father were busy working in their field when the lightning struck. While Jaga succumbed to the injuries, Babula was rushed to the Sakshigopal Community Health Centre in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warnings for several districts in Odisha, predicting thunderstorms and gusty winds from April 18 to April 22.
