Bhubaneswar: One person died while another sustained severe injuries due to a lightning strike at Durkamunda village under Boden block in Nuapada district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Parshu Satnami of Durkamunda village while the injured has been Lubha Satnami.
According to reports, the incident occurred when both victims were out for nature’s call near a pond in their village. Unfortunately, they were struck by lightning, which led to Parshu’s death. Lubha was rushed to the Khariar Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared Parshu dead on arrival.
Lubha’s condition is stated to be critical, and he has been shifted to the Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment. The
incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the dangers of stepping out during lightning strikes.
