Lightning Strike Claims One Life; Two Critically Injured In Boudh

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed and two others critically injured after being struck by lightning at Kankala village under Baunsuni police limits in Boudh district on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Pinki Mahakud (35), died while returning from a bath in the Mahanadi river with two others.

Bila Guru (45) and Lipsa Bastia (22) were seriously injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment at the Boudh District Headquarters Hospital. The lightning strike occurred at 6 pm when the women were returning home after harvesting paddy and taking a bath.

The police were informed about the incident and reached the spot. Pinki’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination and will be handed over to the family after completion. Locals have demanded compensation for the victim’s family.
