Lightning Strikes School Building In Athagarh, Cook Critical

Athagarh(Cuttack): While more than 35 schools students had a narrow escape, a cook was critically injured when lightning struck Totapada Upper Primary School building in Athagarh block of Cuttack district on Tuesday.

The cook has been admitted to the Athagarh  Community Health Centre (CHC) in a critical condition.

According to reports, lightning struck the school building while classes were underway. The school building’s wall has cracked under the impact of the lightning strike. Fans and other electrical equipment in the school have been damaged.

Irate over the incident, Totapada villagers demanding a better building for the school blocked the Khuntuni-Narsinghpur State Highway no. 65.
