**Bhubaneswar: ** In view of the most significant general election this year and as Odisha DGP R.P. Sharma has already stated that it would be the greatest challenge for Odisha Police in 2019, a special session had been on the agenda at the valedictory session of the 61st Senior Police Officers’ Conference here today.
Accordingly, Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar held a session with the participating senior police officers here.
In his media reactions soon after the special session, the Odisha CEO said, “The upcoming general election is the most significant activity in 2019. In this context, today I sensitized the Superintendents of Police (SPs), Range IGs and DIGs and other higher ranked police officers about the guidelines and instructions of the Election Commission. My small sensitization today was to materialize the objective of free, fair and smooth conduct of election.”
He informed, “By the end of this month, we are going to hold a one-day election training programme at the zonal level for the police officers.”
He explained, “The training programme will be based on vulnerability mapping, critical booth, expenditure monitoring, model code of conduct, etc. Detailed discussions will be held at the zonal IG level. Four places have been chalked out. They are Bhubaneswar, Ganjam, Koraput and Sambalpur.”
“After that, training will be held at the district level. And this training will cover upto the police station level,” the CEO informed.
